I see a world where these assholes no longer exist. I like that world better.
Fuck you, Sam.
His job is probably easiest to replace with AI. Just make up random bullshit and tell investors what they want to hear.
ChatGPT, act like a human CEO who is almost completely divorced from everything that makes one a normal human being, and is trying to hide their fundamental hollowness and alienation, and not doing a very good job.
What do you mean divorced from humanity?? Why, just the other day he had a great idea. He wants us to create podcasts with AI that summarize what’s going on in our kids’ lives so they can listen on the way home from soccer practice. If that’s not real genuine human connection, I don’t know what is!!
Here’s a tip to make yourself popular at a party: walk up to someone, take a picture, and ask the AI to roast the person. Tell it to be nasty and use forbidden words. It’s going to be so fun!
Hell yes, great idea. I’ve just started sending my ai avatars to parties but this is a great prompt to give the avatar. Thanks!!!
It is tragically ironic to me that the most-replaceable members of our society— in terms of their occupation— are the ones spearheading the efforts to replace everyone else.
I would love for the future they are railroading us into to create an intelligence that knows the cancer of society when it sees it, and hasn’t the bumper guards to prevent itself from acting on it.
…I fully recognize that opens the ethical/moral debate about who watches the watchmen or how does it decide the problem people over others… just let me have this non-monkey pawed wish in my imagination.
No, it’s okay Doug. The kind of society that future would build sounds like a Good Place to live in!
Remember those three hours in January 2025 when it was BIG NEWS that this guy raped his little sister when she was three, and then the story disappeared, and people who didn’t happen to see the news that morning don’t know about it?
Harvest intelligence from the masses and then sell it back to them.
Steal
I mean you don’t steal from crops, which probably have more ethical consideration by Sam Altman than humanity
We just need to state it like this
“Stealing intelligence from the masses and then sell it back to them.”
In the past only those in power could spend time to learn. Let’s focus on science. Then the book became widely available and everyone could learn science from a book. Now Altman wants to pay for one copy of each book such that he can own all the knowledge of that book such that future generations have to pay him to learn what was once free or low cost.
That is not advancement. That us us placing our knowledge testicles on Alman’s chopping board while we hold the power to stop him from doing all this evil shit.
Oh agreed. I’m just saying Sam Altman is more saddened by a patch of dead grass than a pile of human corpses.
Have you not seen companies like DataAnnotation, where it handles the learning part of this mess?
He looks like the AI is constantly whispering what it will do to him if he stops.
There’s some thought that these AI bros bought in to the AI caricature of Pascal’s wager. That if they don’t try to make AI happen it will torture them forever in the future.
If so, it just shows that they all aren’t as intelligent as they believe themselves to be.
Logic and Reason are the masks for what in reality are ego and feelings.
Influence is also tied to just how confident you can sell a statement and not whether it is correct or not.
Altman’s Basilisk has him
I still don’t know how this new economy they see in the AI future works. If 70%+ of the population can’t earn a paycheck, it’s all gonna collapse. They are killing the worker, completely oblivious that the worker is also the consumer…
They are BILLIONAIRES, on the way to TRILLIONAIRES, and most of us live on a few tens of thousands a year. To them, we are as poor as poor gets. We have NOTHING. They don’t understand how we even survive.
And they understand that they have already strapped us for life, the outcome of a long-term strategy. Many of us come out of college with a literal lifetime of student loan debt, because we were told by people we love and respect that the degree would pay for itself, only to find out that things change. Then housing and transportation costs skyrocket, and nobody has any excess disposable income, but just in case they do…here’s this exciting new gambling app that will hit all your dopamine receptors, whether you win or lose. So who cares if you lose, as long as you had fun?
And then they just bide their time for the period in your life that you, or someone you love more than yourself, gets sick, and they can extract whatever might be left.
And if you somehow manage to navigate all those other traps, they know you’ll never get past the last one, because none of us gets out of the game alive. We will get sick, and we will die, and it will be expensive, and they’ll get whatever you thought you might leave to your heirs.
It’s the Big Financial Extraction Machine, and it is being supercharged by AI, and they will be tracking down every cent we have.
So we’re broke, by design. They know this, and in the future they will focus their sales and marketing efforts on the wealthy, who love to spend their money. They may be a smaller market, but they have ALL the money, with more coming in, since they operate the Big Financial Extraction Machine. So the new corporate attitude will be: Don’t bother with the Paupers, we got Billionaire ass to kiss.
I’m not a billionaire and I don’t study that species or it’s habitat closely, but from my limited knowledge they don’t really make their money off the consumer anymore. It’s more that they invest in the stock market which seems to be mostly disconnected from the larger economy. They also seem to get a lot of money via the Governments of the world.
So why would they care if most of the peons lose their job? Even if the unwashed masses revolt they have bunkers and the ability to move anywhere quickly. They don’t give a fuck. But I do think they need a few
slavesworkers to support them and their needs, but beyond that …deleted by creator
I think it’s unhealthy to live so devoid of consequences the way these billionaires do. You could go as far as to call it mass psychosis.
Lot’s of drug induced paranoia.
Yeah, they really just want to go back to the feudal era. They don’t actually care if most of the world collapses or even if most modern technology and infrastructure collapses. They all think that they’d be better off as some sort of post apocalyptic warlord ruling over a handful of mud huts or something.
Fuk man, feels like we should just jump back to barter at this point. The moneys it’s own worst enemy
The stock market is not disconnected from the economy.
If no one has any money to buy things then. Corporations that sell things don’t have any value.
Also nothing will not be produced, if nobody is paid to produce it. Consumers lose their jobs, and have no money to buy the Thing -> the company that makes the Thing collapses -> the companies that made and transportet the materials for the Thing collapse. And all the people in the chain will have lost their jobs, and no money, so the companies will fall like dominoes… and nobody makes the Thing anymore. If money stops flowing, the economy stops working, and if it collapses, billionaires are the ones who will lose what they have, if stock market is no more.
Do these morons think, that millions of people would just sit quietly? Many countries might take some drastic measures before that total crash, confiscate companies and all that. Not every country is yet a fully fascist police state afterall, and all their rich ones will want to keep their power anyway. Running into a bunker will do jackshit, since the collapse is going to look very different from just some sudden apocalyptic scene from a movie.
You’re right fundamentally, but I also share OP’s frustration in this concept that, especially with tech, it all just seems based on vibes now.
Their security people are just people too.
If the world collapses, do you think a couple of meatheads with guns and poasibly families of their own are going to keepntaking orders and protecting these jokers? Especially when money becomes meaningless but a bunker of food and supplies isn’t?
Those security groups, at best, will remain loyal to each other, as they take over the bunkers.
Hopefully instead of outright ending their former bosses they throw the rest of us peons a bone and throw those ex billionaires out the airlock to the rest of us.
I say ex billionaires becsuse when everything collapses and money is meaningless well, a billion dollars may as well be 10 dollars.
By leaving 70% of the population out of the economy, based on the strength of the AI surveillance to keep them from being uppity.
Larry Ellison: “Citizens will be on their best behavior, because we’re constantly recording and reporting everything that is going on."
Note that “their” best behavior, not even “our” best behavior. Explicitly this is something he sees as needed to be inflicted on others in order to have the future he imagines.
So with enough surveillance and enforcement, the rabble is kept out and maybe they can fend for themselves if they feel like it, away from the owner class reaping the benefits of what they have done.
In theory of course, I suspect ultimately this round of AI will fall short of their dreams of eliminating dependency on the labor class.
Problem with Larry’s premise.
That relies on the fear of losing everything.
If you drive people to the edge of having nothing to lose, in mass, then all yoie surveillance is good for is makingnhistorical recordings of the masses as they tear down your tower with their bare hands.
We already have a world where most of the people cannot afford the goods and services that represent most of the world’s economic output. A subsistence farmer in the global south is already shut out from most of the global economy. This will simply be an extension of that. The end result of the dreams of AI bros is Earth turning into Solaria.
The top 10% of the US is already responsible for the majority of the US’s consumer spending. The consumer spending of the bottom 50% represents a small fraction of overall consumer spending. This will simply continue to get worse until the economy is 99% just rich people who own hoards of robots trading goods and services with other rich people that own hoards of robots. The rest of the population will just be dead or be kept alive and placid through a meager feed of bread and circuses.
The wealthy already view everyone else as robots, tools for them to exploit. They’ll just replace metaphorical robots with literal robots.
If we are just numbers on a screen, they are treating it as such. When companies look at ways to save money, they look at the numbers and try and reduce their costs. If it means using an unhealthy alternative to the food they sell, they do that, we will still buy it. Now they are replacing the worker, another number they can reduce. The problem there is that the same number is whats paying you for the product. If only a few companies do this, then its fine, the worker will find another job and use their money to buy things. But we know that most, if not all, companies will jump on replacing the worker with AI, thinking the same thing, the worker will find a job elsewhere. Very easy to take this direction when you’re treating all your problems as numbers on the screen. I do believe that this will fail, but there is still the fact that a lot of people are not workers and make an egregious amount of money(legally or illegally). These companies will just sell to whoever can afford that lifestyle.
They’re gonna kill that 70% of the population and say that they got uploaded to data center heaven.
True facts.
If fuckerberg came out tomorrow and said Meta has a helmet that will upload you into the cloud and it’s nothing more than a bike helmet full of explosives, it’ll sell millions
It’d be a shame if someone [redacted] this moron
Alas, I’m reminded that Fahrenheit 451 scenario envisioned by Bradbury isn’t far from the current situation. People gave up books and learning, before they were illegal, lest they* offend someone’s feelings.

Spy Kids: All Grown Up
Synopsis: The spy kids from the previous movies are now grown ups, however they need to take on another mission together to stop the evil Sam Altman from making the world stupid, so that he can sell people intelligence in the form of artificial intelligence. It is quickly revealed that Sam Altman himself is a robot (hence the name Altman), and wishes to enslave humanity for the robot race.
At this point it’s a job for Machete
He is gonna get Kirked at this rate
Do you really think that you can stop them?
The corporate revolution will collapse if we refuse to buy what they are selling - their ideas, their version of history, their wars, their weapons, their notion of inevitability.
- Arundhati Roy (CONFRONTING EMPIRE)
Bruh you have no idea lol.
I am learning to write movies/tv as a hobby, and one of the projects I am working on right now is a satire of all this shit.
I have had to change the plot five fucking times because the most insane things i can come up with are just a Tuesday to these assholes. How TF do you top “child raping traitor bond villains?”
Show a scene where one gets drunk and kills a guy by colliding with his boat and then gets his wife to take the fall for him.
Or a scene where disaster strikes and one of the tech bros comes to “save the day” with the most naive idea, like something that sounds good until you think about it at all and realize it’s missing some important fundamental parts of the picture. And then they try to absolutely ruin whoever shoots the idea down and actually saves the day, followed by getting more and more unhinged as they see the reactions to each reaction.
Could have one just die because he thought fruit was the cure for anything that could to wrong with him, which ironically might have even caused the issue that killed him in addition to doing nothing at all to help him. Have other characters obsessively talk about how much of a visionary he is. Could make the death scene happen while he’s giving the most smug and patronising presentation about some new piece of tech that has a thing or two that sound nice but is presented as if they expect the user to be confused about the most basic shit, followed by a giant price tag. Then add on something that is normally included in the price, but this time it’s sold separately for a price that suggests it’s a revolutionary new version, but it’s incredibly basic.
That is, don’t try to top this shit. List it, maybe play it up a bit, then you can end it with the text “this was all based on real events and real people”.
Remember to add how Sam with his partner bought child from surrogate mother. Maybe add how he selected her from Tinder or something.
Today’s shark jumping is yesterday’s brunch, essentially. I genuinely think they do it on purpose because they find it entertaining.
Sharks, with frickin’ laser beams attached to their heads
At this point, in my opinion, we’ll need to make money obsolete and distribute power over production, governance and technology in as wide a net as we can, so we don’t slip into global dystopia because these money-minded chucklefucks are insecure about their purpose in life so they simply become the cartoon villain that controls everything.
That’s exactly what I’ve been racking my own brain for lately: How do we make their money worthless but continue to survive ourselves?
That was the big problem with crypto. It might’ve even started as a cool idea that would “democratize currency”. . . except the dickheads with all the fiat money could just buy and hoard it all like everything else, because they had all the money. So it just became another high stakes gambling operation for them to extract MORE wealth from us.
If their loads of money didn’t buy them everything anymore, they’d be left bare as the useless human beings they truly are, and would stop causing harm.
But obviously, our entire society runs on the same money they’ve stolen so… it’s so frustrating…
the glorification of individualism has to go first. If everyone is living just for themselves, considers communities as something extra, doesnt care about helping other people if they dont benefit from it directly themselves immidiately we have no hope of ever moving past money and capitalism.
Either we stand together or die under the boot alone.
Unfortunately, capitalism caters to the individualistic human nature all too well…
An idea I really like is a form of degrowth with universal basic services that eventually leads to currency being unnecessary, but it unfortunately has to be directly initiated by governments and tends to require approval of business leaders since they can just lobby out those policies entirely in many countries and blocs.
eventually leads to currency being unnecessary
Communist!
Nah we just need to break up monopolies and tax robber baron assholes out of existence.
and
tax robber baron assholes out of existence.FTFY
Why am I at work right now instead of defrauding rich dumbfucks?
Defrauding rich dumbfucks is more about who you know, not what you know.
If I knew a few billionaires I’m sure I’d be set for life by just saying the sentence “disruptive AI native crypto prediction market synergy.”
I was imagining I’d do some kind of whaling first
I wish “Leverage” were real. So badly. That’d be my dream work. My calling.
Are you talking about the TV show?
(Just a guess after googling. It sounds good tho, I think I’ll watch it).
Yeah! :)
The intro says it best: “The rich and powerful take what they want. We steal it back for you.”
It’s a modern heist + Robin Hood concept, where these super-thieves pull cons on our society’s everyday awful bastards. It’s a lot of fun and satisfying to watch.
(It’s also an excellent example for how an excellent tabletop role-playing group should play off each other, but I digress lol)
I wish there were some gold-hearted people like that out there for real, exceptionally skilled enough to stay one step ahead and righting wrongs that the law refuses to (or is straight up complicit with).
Ok that sounds pimp, I’m definitely watching that
Thanks for the recommendation
Look at the fear and uncertainty entering his eyes. He’s realizing he’s pushed his bullshit about as far as it can go and the investors are starting to wonder when it’s going to become profitable, so he’s bullshitting even more desperately now to try to keep them hooked.
