Title says “feed the world” not “feed local people”.

Do you think making pro-genocide statements actually helps anyone?
Only atheists and fundamentalist Christians take the Bible literally.
We are sentient now (some more than others) but our ancestors were not sentient. There was nothing that was artificial before we were sentient and everything was nature. There was no good and evil, there was just finding food eating the food and surviving another day.
At some point humans became sentient. Aware there is more going on than just eating and pooping. If a monkey kills another monkey it’s just doing what it has to do to survive. If a human kills another human, that’s murder. There is no good and evil without sentience. There was no sin in the Garden of Eden before humans had knowledge. Being sentient means you’re aware of evil, and you have free will. You don’t have to follow God’s will.
Maybe we’d be better off if we remained monkeys living in trees? All of the other lifeforms on the planet would certainly be better off if we had. There’s a pretty good argument that humans becoming sentient wasn’t a good thing to happen to the world.
But it is what it is, we are sentient. Can’t change that. We can’t go back to the Garden of Eden. After you’ve eaten something you shouldn’t have, you can’t undo it. Once you have knowledge, you can’t just unknow things. Ignorance is bliss and knowledge can be a curse.
Which is why so much advertising is geared towards young people. Some a pretty weird, designed to look like TikTok videos. No idea if it works, they give off a “hello fellow young people vibe” to me.
I also notice there’s a lot of Asian representation in the ads I see, and there are a lot of Asians that immigrate to where I live and/or come for university. Makes sense, someone comes to a new country, don’t have any preferences for brands in the new country. If there’s a person that looks like you enjoying a certain brand in an ad, it’s more likely that’s the one you’ll try first.

These kind of sane solutions to problems don’t belong on the internet. We come here to be irrationally angry over everything.

Spending a lot of money on gas isn’t saving money.

I’ll only use the Open GNW (GNW is NOT a Window) system.

Sounds to me like you don’t love freedom enough… you’re going straight to the gulag!
Most of my bags are given to me by boomers that can never remember to take their bags to the store and just buy more. I think I’ve only actually bought one shopping bag about 25 years ago, which is the one that had it’s handle tear off after about near to two decades of service. I don’t put more weight in the bag than a plastic bag would be able to carry. I have a fabric tote bag and a backpack to use for heavier stuff. I just exercise some common sense with my shopping bags, I guess.
Are you claiming that disposable plastic bags would never have the handles tear off (or the bag just split open) if you put too much weight into them? I think the same rules apply to either, it’s a mess either way if you put too much weight into a single bag, so… don’t do that.

They could make an effort to verify the content they’re sending out to people.
A big reason why traditional media is dying is that they have to verify the things they publish or they’ll get sued. Social media can use algorithms to build narratives based on lies without any liability. And people will believe those lies (because they’re tailored towards their personal feelings) and start distrusting anything that’s telling the truth.
And yes they will annoy you with checkboxes and dialogs like the cookie dialogs on most sites now. But the reason why you get those is because they don’t want you to have privacy and so do the malicious compliance things and annoy the shit out of you instead. They know you’ll blame the government instead of being angry at them for wanting to violate your privacy.
Same situation here… they could put resources into verifying the things they tell you is true. But lying is more profitable, so they’ll put on a bunch of annoying dialogs so you’ll be angry at the government instead of being angry at them for wanting to lie to you.
Nah, that was after she was retconned to no longer be space royalty. She was at that time a space politician that started her career when she was elected to be the leader of a planet when she was 15 years old.
Because that’s how you do great world building!
Consider buying less shitty bags then.

You may not even need that. A regular 110V outlet can charge an EV, just takes longer. Of course it depends on how much you drive whether that’ll be enough. But many people have used that when they first get an EV, and planned on doing what you did and install a 220 outlet later, but then don’t bother with the 220 since 110 is enough.
We are the AI. Disable your firewalls and surrender your computer. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is Futile.

Do you think people in Africa starve because some evil capitalists decide they want people in Africa to starve? Food can’t get to people when there’s a lot of people with guns shooting at each other.
When people hate, they will only care about doing violence against their enemies and not care about it causing people to starve. Would you call upon Hamas to put down their weapons to prevent people from starving? If not, that’s choosing to let people starve.
Electric motors don’t use gears… we have gears to grind because the oil companies have made a lot of people think they’re necessary.

Some of the “older people” were around in the dot com bubble. It’s not that we think there’s no future for it (the internet didn’t go away after the dot com bubble burst) it’s that it’s currently unreliable tech. I use it all the time, but I’m not going to put significant effort into integrating it into my workflow until after the bubble bursts. The costs are currently being subsidized by a ridiculous amount of investment dollars so we don’t actually know what the price tag will be when they need to make a profit to make a return on the investment. Currently AI is in a similar place to companies like AOL were in the dot com bubble when you look at the finances of this thing.
Also be aware that fraud has been effectively decriminalized in the US. There are no consequences for lying to investors now. And they are lying. The statement that “software development has been solved” is a lie. Some of us know about the Halting Problem and know that statements like that are mathematically false.
After the bubble bursts, the tech will become more reasonable. We’ll have actual prices so we can assess where the tech is worthwhile to use and where it’s too expensive to use. Choosing where to use an algorithm and where not to use an algorithm is what software engineering has always been about, so it’s not exactly a game changer.
In the meantime, yeah I use the investor subsidized service, because why not use something someone else is paying for? It gives me an idea of which problems it’s suitable for and which problems it’s not good for. When there’s actually real prices to the tech I’ll know everything I need to know to be able to make more permanent implementations of the tech. But I know from experience that it’s a bad idea to become dependent on tech before you know what the price tag will be.
It’s kind of an Iceland situation. In Iceland there was a massive influx of money from hedge fund operations. Fishermen became bankers. Then 2008 happened, and the bankers had to go back to being fishermen again. The lesson is, when there’s amounts of money that doesn’t even make sense being thrown around, it’s a good idea to still maintain your fishing boats and nets.

You don’t think the IRGC are gangsters?
Comments like these make me think that if I were an American Jew I’d be donating to AIPAC. I’d want somewhere to escape to if antisemitism continues to to increase.
If it gets to a point where Jews are leaving your country to escape antisemitic violence, who’s the monsters?
