Just finished ‘Lucky’ on Apple. Good, no frills crime drama with great acting and lots of thrills. I like that the heroine isn’t an asskicking superwoman. She’s a smart con artist who uses brains and nerve.

Back when it was created, you’d get one episode a week. It’s probably better to take it slowly and let the stories digest, instead of binging.

Old show, but I started watching Dead Like Me. It’s one of the few Bryan Fuller shows I have yet to try, and damn it already hooked me in from episode 1.
I don’t know if I can recommend it yet, since I hear Fuller left the show before season 2 (classic), but I definitely want to see it through to the end.
Mandy Patinkin is so good. Such a great show.

I haven’t thought about that show in ages! I really recall enjoying both seasons. It also has a film set after the two seasons, but I can’t remember if it’s a bonus or a wrap up, it moves the story forward but I don’t know if you need to watch it or if it’s just a bit more.

No, it does not. You will see things that say it exists, but take my word for it that it doesn’t and move on with your life. Much like how you will see internet gags that M Night Syamalan did a live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender movie, you will see things that imply the Dead Like Me movie was made. Ignore them.

If such a thing were to exist, it would probably be missing Rube, upend the lore that allowed for suspension of disbelief, be maudlin and manipulative to the point of distraction, and just generally be very poorly done.
You know, if it existed, lol.
So far it really does hold up, if you want to ever rewatch it. I’m actually kind of surprised at how resistant I am to binging it (I’m on Ep. 9 of S1 atm and doing an episode a day-ish), it’s much more of a thinker than I was expecting.
Great show, rewatched it last winter.
I watched it the first time at the same time I watched Pushing Daisies, Eureka, and Weeds. So, I always associate those shows in my mind.
Strange New Worlds: The noir episode was pretty good Trek, but the setting was a gimmick that brought nothing extra. Fine as long as the script is decent, and this one was, but they’re not a fun little bonus anymore, just kind of tiring.
Ted Lasso: Should have left well enough alone. The conceit of s3 is fine, but so far the execution has been lacking, full of flanderized hijinks and distracting levels of fan service that seem done mostly to remind us that this used to be a better show. Each episode is slightly better than the one before, but we’re starting from a very clunky and underwhelming place.
Ninth Jedi: I’m just over halfway through. Pretty good, a more “meat and potatoes” reworking of Star Wars themes than I expected, but the style holds up and I’m curious to see how they tie it all together.
The most recent episode is a puppet episode. Ugh. I feel like you either love these episodes, or hate them the way I do. There’s no in between. Shut it off as soon as I realized.
The episode has its moments, but it’s very much worse than the Noir one, and for better or worse…

I am almost caught up with Strange New Worlds. I just finished S04E02, and then I went back to watch it again because people mentioned that there are things in the background that you need to watch for.

I’d say, “Maybe?” That just seems like a horror trope, right? To dial the unease back up a little after the traditional catharsis? It’s honestly part of my issue with doing a different theme in most of the episodes. ST writers have never been as obsessed with consistent lore as the fans, but things like this go to the heart of what your audience wants from your show.
Recenty found a show called “Cheap Irish Houses” its pretty fun. Very eye opening and makes me wish I could take advantage of some of the offeres.
I love that one! I’d probably be miserable and broke if I actually had the money to buy one of those houses, but it’s fun to see what’s out there.
That apple show Sugar is starting to get interesting 4 episodes in.
Finished season 2 of Monarch and it was pretty boring. Best parts of it are when they force Kurt Russell to talk seriously about “Godzilla”. For some reason that’s just really funny.
Will probably get high and drunk tomorrow and re-watch that 2 hour compilation of Astronaut deaths from For All Mankind again.
I’m watching the second of sugar, the first blows my mind and for now I like it a lot but let’s see if it has something similar

I liked season 2. It took a few episodes to draw me in, but it really ramped up around the fourth episode. Still wasn’t as good as first season though.

I’m watching Star Trek Strange New Worlds. It is the first ST show that I got into. I liked The Orville and this one feels similar. I didn’t like the first episode though.
I watched Shoresy recently, and it was one of my favourite new finds.
I am also enjoying Batman Caped Crusader and Widows Bay. I just started Stirling Lake, but it is too early to say if I will like it.
SNW doesnt seem to do it for me, much like picard and std, both are terrible shows compared to previous older trek shows, i think thier “wide audience” requirements hurts them more than know. So much so that amazon has cancelled the new sg series before it even began
I had a hard time getting into the really old ST shows, it felt like watching a play. I respect that the older shows laid the groundwork for everything that came after them, but it’s hard for new people to get into them as the first star trek experience
I will try them again in the future.
im guessing it depends if you grew up with them. i dont find nutrek good at all, writing/acting, props. the showrunner being in control doesnt help at all.

Watching Ride or Die. It’s pretty fun, but feels like the kind of show that only works for one season.
I got curious about The Punisher and why many chuds around here have stickers on their rusted, lifted trucks right next to a blue lives matter flag, so I watched the first season knowing nothing about it.
The show was aggressively average and the chuds don’t seem to understand the character if they think he’s pro law enforcement. Then again, these are the kind of people who rooted for Homelander.
