25th Amendment is a fantasy, it ain’t happening. It requires the VP and half the cabinet, then to override it all the president has to do is write a letter to Congress saying they’re fit to serve.

If the VP pushes back on this letter, then it requires a 2/3 vote in both chambers to remove the president.

Yep, impeachment is a (slightly) more viable strategy, but impossible without major Dem gains in the midterms. Like I’m not even sure there are enough Senate seats up for reelection.

Unfortunately, impeachment will do little to nothing as it stands. Remember that Trump holds the record for potus impeachment, and is half of all potus impeachments.

Even if everyone agrees to do it, nothing will actually happen, except a strike on the record, because politicians are cowardly villains most of the time.

Having impeachment proceedings filed and being actually convicted of the impeachment are two different things. The former is easier and has happened twice for Trump, the latter is harder and hasn’t happened.

Unless a bunch of the GOP flips the latter is impossible but you never know.

There are EXACTLY enough Senate seats in play. But Dems need every last one.

        But then there’s Fetterman…

I remember a long time ago on a forum called Facepunch, when he first became president, I made a comment. “My mother called me and told me she was sorry he got elected. He’s going to destroy our country.” I remember some guy calling my ma an idiot and saying she was wrong.

I wish I could find that cocksucker now and tell him to get bent till his head touches the ground.

Yeah. A friend of mine told me last year, just before the second term started, “Before this is over, everyone here not drinking the koolaid or rich enough to leave is gonna know what it feels like to be an abused spouse, trapped in a brutal marriage they can’t leave.”

At this point I’m not sure my buddy was wrong: isolating the US from all allies; ripping through our finances and savings; doing everything he can to make sure individuals feel powerless and alone; openly destroying/mocking us and/or whatever what we value, like the East Wing or the king airplane shitting video; pursuing the ICE murders, incarcerations, deportations and disappearances; making sure all internal sources of support (SNAP, SS, etc) for individuals are credibly threatened or gone . . . there’s a LOT of what he is doing now that could be tracked to an exact parallel in domestic violence situations.

I’ve made this metaphor as well, and you said it perfectly.

But I was wrong. It’s not a metaphor. Trump is an abuser. He is abusing us. Mass media has given a sociopathic malignant narcissist abuser access to all of us, and deprived us of any legal route to escape him.
