Finished another batch of cartoons and was curious if there’s some I really need to get around to.

You can recommend pretty much anything besides anime. I have a separate list for that. If there’s something in “Plan to watch” you think is a must see, say so and I’ll move it way up the list.

The shows that are ongoing are how I currently feel about them. Simpsons and South Park are how I feel about them based on their first 8 seasons since I’m still watching through them.

Please update with a better image so we can see what is on there.

Scavenger’s Reign and Gravity Falls may be missing from you list and not mentioned yet.

Man. Wish I could read that image. I’ve been looking for cartoons to watch.

What are the two peak ones?

Blue Eye Samurai wants to be grounded and moving, yet also an adolescent power fantasy, and it suffers for it. It’s still quite good, and I try to grade on a curve when something is ambitious, but IMHO it’s way too flawed to be “peak tier.”

Also, the end of S1 is a total cop-out IMO.

I really enjoyed it up until that point, even if it was a bit of a mess.

Agreed. Apart from just being kinda so-so and cliched and a Marvel-style sensory assault that assumes emotional arcs are completed by stabbing and shooting things, it reeked of “You have to renew us because the story’s nowhere near done!” That’s understandable as a business move by people whom Netflix will happily fuck over, but it’s bad storytelling when you know perfectly well that Netflix might fuck you over, and history has shown it won’t be effective either, due to the aforementioned over-fucking.

              spoiler

Fowler did NOT need to be left alive. Any number of ways the writers could have Mizu find the information, especially once he dangled it.

                Absolutely agreed in all counts!

TBH if they’d just done as you say in your spoiler, it would have been one of my favourites … because I like messy and unfocussed stories (my favourite comic book character is Tank Girl)

I mean in my opinion all the 90’s - 00’s Nickelodean and Cartoon Network cartoons are better than all that Marvel and DC trash you have listed there but I realise that is probably a controversial opinion with how fervent those fan bases are but shit at least try some like:

    Courage the Cowardly Dog

Grimm Adventures of Billy & Mandy

    Marvellous Misadventures of Flapjack

    Adventure Time

    The Wonderful World of Gumball

    Regular Show

    Cow and Chicken

    Angry Beavers

To name just a few, there was a huge thread recently which covers pretty much everything you should check out Here on asklemmy

    Swat Katz

Anthropomorphic cat world, where two dudes who work at a junkyard are secretly vigilantes that use a suped-up jet as their main vehicle/weapon. Crazy shit happens like kaiju attacks, evil wizards, alternate dimensions and so on.

It’s awesome. It has the best opening theme ever.

Pantheon and Arcane. As someone who doesn’t play LoL my LoL playing siblings made me watch Arcane and it was pleasant enough.

Pantheon is just a must see.

Arcane seconded. You don’t need to know anything about LoL to follow the plot and enjoy it.

The song closing the first season is a banger that I still have in rotation. But the arcs balancing hope with realism are its best qualities.

Gargoyles. It’s got the same showrunner, Greg Weisman, as Spectacular Spider-Man, which I see you put in the “Great” tier. (No arguments there.)

I don’t see Avatar or Korra on your list. Both are phenomenal shows (although they might skirt too close to the “anime” line) edit: I just spotted Korra in the plan to watch list. Watch it. It’s good.

If you’re okay with 3DCG animation, my favorite cartoon of all time is Reboot and there is currently a project ongoing to restore the original renders into HD, with newly restored episodes being uploaded to YouTube periodically.

And if neither are your speed, another user here recommended Gargoyles, which is also a phenomenal TV show

Not sure if more adult cartoons are in bounds or not but Harley Quinn is wonderful (surprisingly wholesome?). Archer and Rick and Morty have moments of incredible writing here and there too

If not, Over the Garden Wall lines up with Infinity Train in a few ways in my opinion.
