Transport Minister Steven MacKinnon won’t guarantee the cost to fly won’t go up for travellers if the federal government follows through on its plan to privatize Canada’s four largest airports but does promise an improved experience and partial regulation.
The only time privatization leads to a decrease in prices is while they are squeezing out competitors. Then it inevitably goes up while quality drops. Privatization is always profit before people. It’s past time to kill that idea, and, if necessary, its proponents.
