Amazon isn’t interested in making a show that fans will like. The assumption is that fans will watch the show anyway. They want a show that the popcorn eating masses will eat up like Game of Thrones. This exact same mentality is how we got all of the current Star Trek, all of the current Star Wars, all of the current Lord of the Rings, etc.…

This is also how star wars and Disney got dunked on by a YouTuber making a feature length film of retail employees wandering empty hallways. Viewers preferred the empty hallways movie by a landslide.

Only Disney could make people hate star wars like this. George Lucas tried but he’s not as well practised as they are…

They did ok with Fallout. I felt like that appeals to both casuals and hardcore Fallout fans.

I’m glad you liked it, but I have to disagree with you. I feel the Fallout games did not lend themselves to being translated to the screen very well. That basically none of this has anything to do with the games. So they might as well have called it Random Dystopian Show and it would have had the same impact. I don’t really see it is any different than the Halo show. The only tie-in is that it takes place “in the same universe”.

Yeah my general impression of the show was that it would be much more enjoyable if I hadn’t seen the originals that a lot of the stories lifted from. It’s like an amalgamation of some of the better fallout storylines. That being said I still haven’t gotten round to watching season 2

Amazon is deeply enshittified. I mean they always were a bad employer, but for a while they were at least good to their customers.

It’s the typical “we have achieved market dominance; the only way to keep growing revenue is to cut corners” problem.

Shitty cheap China slop in the shop, shitty mainstream production in the movie section.
