All of my degree was in C, C++, C#, Java, etc. and the one class I had that did web applications did Java backends and middleware with PHP frontends. It wasn’t until I got into the industry that I had to learn Angular, Electron, React, Django, etc.
I don’t think it’s the devs making these decisions.

One of the main considerations when my wife and I got our larger car was all the other larger cars in the road. Nobody wants to be on the receiving end of texting soccer mom’s Escalade in a subcompact.

I’ve never been to a music festival. It’s always been too expensive. But, having been other places, I can’t imagine what could possibly be so tiring about it unless you just aren’t taking care of yourself.

Honestly, I don’t think the smart phone form factor is going anywhere anytime soon. I think that the 20th century set a lot of people up for an assumption that technology would continue to increase at the same rate for the next several hundred years but that’s just not correct. Look at how much changed in the 500 years before the 20th century and look at the current state of capitalism and global politics. We’ve gone basically nowhere culturally in over 100 years. Certainly more technology will be able to fit in the same amount of space. But that’s the dirty secret of the 21st-century, miniaturization is our biggest technological achievement. I definitely think that even 500 years from now will be a lot closer to now than most people think.
I can’t tell if you’ve totally understood what I meant or are trying to make a joke. For the record I meant egg soaked bread with no sugar or cream would probably be really gross. I do eat plain eggs, but this would be the first time that I’ve heard about savory French toast if that’s what you meant.
I didn’t say it was finished. I said people had won a Nobel prize for having done it. It takes decades to win a Nobel prize. My point was that it had been done years and years ago, not recently.
Maybe the people in back had even less of their suit ready. It’s awfully dark back there for them to be wearing shiny pants.
Watson beat Ken Jennings over a decade ago. Protein folding was already done too, the people who did it even won a Nobel prize for it a couple years ago.
LLMs being the most visible part of AI after over 75 years of AI, isn’t because they’re the biggest or latest or greatest or whatever, it’s marketing. Plain and simple marketing.
Elections are done through states not the federal government.
Exactly, that and the “we are a [insert product name here] shop” mentality. The things I have had to fight for over the years are mind boggling.
