It’s the tardigrade’s violin now.

I used a hardened version of Fennec, but have switched to Iron Fox, through the Accrescent store. Both are privacy-centric Firefox forks for Android. I think they’re your best bet.

Whatever your views on him as an actor or his political affiliation, you should watch the original speech in its entirety, rather than keep this soundbite in and of itself and hijack its meaning. It’s also worth noting this was recorded in early 2023, so a lot of things have changed since then.

I think it’s a powerful message and well delivered. Something the hardline MAGA crowd definitely needed to heed. And all around the world, as more of these populist movements rise or have risen.

Decidedly have no love for the GOP, but he was a politician in a time where the GOP was immensely different from what it is today, and the focus of the party was not overt bigotry and absolutism. Iirc, he was also talked about as a bit of a black sheep during the Bush Jr.-era GOP politics, but I might be misremembering things based on my own impressions from that time.

Actually, the speech is mostly about that last part even as it starts on the Holocaust. Since so far I didn’t see a link to it, here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsETTn7DehI

Too late, they’re my ducks now and we’re gonna do drugs together.

Chicks, amirite fellas?

Time to fuck up the internet for everyone, huh? Must be a week day.

Look, I’d love for Peertube to rival Youtube (and it’s a growing platform, who knows what will happen in the future), but like you said, there are very few content creators and mainstream personalities there. Try looking up a song, a clip from a popular TV show, a game walkthrough, a stand up from your favorite comedian, a silly meme, whatever, and if you find anything on Peertube, that’s impressive, but on Youtube you’ll have dozens upon dozens of examples. The difference in scale over popular content makes any usability comparison right now just wishful thinking. This has been by far YT’s (and maybe on a larger scale Google’s) strength: everything/everyone is already there, so why go anywhere else, where not nearly the amount of people will be watching and bringing in money based on those views.
Still, I’m hopeful people will accept alternative platforms more and more, with how shitty the YT experience has been on the official client and I enjoy discovering new channels I can follow on Peertube, but as of now, I don’t think most people could ditch one for the other, realistically.

There’s simply not even close to the amount of content amassed on YT, and on Peertube’s case (and perhaps on the Fediverse itself), having to navigate through instances makes onboarding not as seamless as the alternative. On the other hand, I think YT’s monetization scheme makes it a more attractive platform at the moment, which further contributes to the extent of its user base.

Can the world NOT be evil, for like a minute?

Wish we weren’t stuck with YT, but Peertube and others are not nearly anp viable option yet. Hurray for other clients, though.

Yes! That’s what actually got me into Star Wars fanedits and fanedits in general, he made the whole prequel trilogy into a unified experience. Saw one based on his editing notes and liked it, but through the years I’ve come to enjoy other takes from the movies, as well.

I’ll name one for those three categories:

Man, Phantom Menace being the worst Star Wars movie when it came out is like George W. Bush being the dumbest US president: those were simpler times, somehow.
I’ll say the prequels aged better than I’d remembered them, though. And they get a lot better with the existing fanedits, especially HAL9000’s take on Episode I, which trims a lot of the dumb humour, dials down the Jar Jar antics significantly and tightens the plot a nice bit, to make it more of a classic Star Wars adventure.

Aww, would you look at that? They think they’re the President.
Would love some cheesy B movies’ remakes, by people who understand the cult following and wouldn’t take themselves too seriously. Like Mario Bava’s Demons. I mean, riding a motorcycle down the stairs like Cloud Strife and chopping off demons’ heads with a katana in the middle of a random demonic invasion in a movie theater sounds awesome. Why can’t we have Fede Alvarez take a crack at that?

Well, that’s what you get when you put in power a son of a bitch for a king.
Oh no! -anyway…
