Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•In your opinion, is space exploration necessary?
21·2 hours agoHuman space exploration seems a bit gratuitous to me. Probes can do almost anything crew can do, and many things that crew cannot. The only thing human space flight seems to do is help us get better at human space flight.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How should a news article website financially sustain itself?
4·3 hours agoBy doing good enough journalism that people want to pay for it.
Sadly, this appears to be an unreachable bar for most.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How would society look like with no companies at all and every single thing is free?
1·3 hours agoI think anyone who is doing mining by hand wants to be doing it. They easily have the technology to fully automate it.
I find that it does a decent job at not being a yes man if you specifically ask it to be critical, cut the crap, etc.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why don't I care about the Artemis mission/program?
2·16 hours agoI cared a little bit. Then the astronauts started blathering about the bible.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is that one software that you are using for 10 years and still loving it?
7·2 days agoDamn Small Media Player. Loads instantly. Plays mp3s. Takes up 850 KB on my hard drive and ~15 MB RAM while playing a song in a large playlist. Now that’s what I call software.

what the fuck
When I lived alone, I only closed doors for HVAC efficiency. But I prefer to leave them open. (It’s actually better to keep them open if you have central air heating, but I had baseboard heaters)

Games@lemmy.world•Does the engine a game uses factor into your decision to buy it or not?English
32·2 days agoAbsolutely. I hate unity and to a lesser extent godot because they struggle so hard on hardware they have no business struggling on.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•(This is a really stupid question) How do you know that you are not stuck in a time loop unable to wake up?
2·3 days agoI don’t see how any utopia could make up for the universes where people are literally tortured their entire lives. Such a multiverse must not be allowed to exist.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Despite all the AI nonsense happening right now, I have a simple question. Do you feel valued? From one human to another.
1·3 days agoThanks.
Another way to frame “do you feel valued” is “do others find you useful?” I can report with confidence that no landlord or capitalist finds me useful and I take pride in that.

2·3 days agoMy answer has nothing to do with ai, but… no.
And that’s okay.
There are things worse than being invisible. Like being stuck with a bunch of crackheads, for example.

I know there’s a lot of negative sentiment here and for good reason, but I think it’s just neat whenever someone recognizes that gaming does partially prepare you for certain roles.
