If I’m being honest I think you’re mistaking the excuse for the function.
“Oh yes totally. Only a topless woman will do for this. Safety first.”

Chuunibyou is more like “middle school-itis” or something. Specifically refers to 2nd year of middle school.
She wasn’t subtle about it.

now that most anime sources have become corporate wage slavers and are pressuring teams to use AI, those tasty dubs will become even rarer.
So far I’ve only seen one brief push to do the dubbing itself with AI, and it was a disaster. As far as I know those dubs are lost media now; hopefully someone backed them up but I’m not seeing them.
It’s possible they’ll try to push AI for translating the dub, but I think that the AI would be really really bad at things like matching lip flaps so I think it’ll be a while before we really see much AI interference with dubbing. I see a lot of accusations that companies like Crunchyroll are using AI to translate subs, but even then I’m skeptical. There was an incident where a specific show clearly was doing that, but according to Crunchyroll that was a breach of contract from the 3rd-party translators they hired. As much as I distrust Sony, I’m actually inclined to believe them here. Honestly I’m not even convinced AI would speed it up that much, and they’re already not paying especially well, so hopefully there won’t be too much pressure to use AI (even though lots of big companies are pushing it to a comical degree).

they insist on doing everything in falsetto for some reason.
I mean, they’re doing that in the Japanese version too.

This has to be sampling bias or something; most classic dubs sucked.

wdym? There are tons of awesome games being made all the time. I’ve really been enjoying Slay the Spire 2.

As an RX 6800 owner I’m quite pleased with this news.
Would you say that you enjoy the product?
I haven’t seen anything in the news, but a large subset of anime fans won’t be pleased unless their anime is free and released with a quality English translation on day 1 and they never make any mistakes so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The fact that in reality they seem intent on slowly enshittifying their services does not help.

I mean, lots of people were and still are annoyed by frame gen too - especially with the deceptive way nvidia uses it in their marketing (claiming a 5070 will be as fast as a 4090 when it actually just makes more fake frames).

Referring to the slop filter as visual enhancement is being very generous. The AI doesn’t know shit about why things look the way they look. Can’t wait to play Deep Rock Galactic but with the lighting all fucked up, despite that being an extremely important game mechanic that the AI doesn’t know anything about.
Sometimes for light novels they’re even longer in Japanese but get shortened for the western release - though I have no idea whether that ever happens for VNs. It certainly isn’t the case here; it appears to be a pretty literal translation of the original title.
Nice of them to let us know exactly what we’re getting into from the start.
Do you have a source for that?
