Lots of down votes yet no one able to answer. I didn’t expect Lemmings here specifically to be Fox News level nutjobs.

Games@lemmy.world•Why are Steam games priced unfairly in Euros indifferent to where one resides?English
2·3 days agoMost digital goods are already georestricted, I wonder if there’s anything stopping Valve from working with that. Maybe gamers are more likely to use VPNs than the average Netflix/Spotify etc. user. In any case, another thing where my eastern European neighbours suffer needlessly.

I tried to setup Forgejo CI but was turned off by the need to have nodejs installed to do anything, even cloning the repository. Does everyone just maintain their own images?
Gitlab CI by comparison will let me you any image (e.g. basic rustc imagé) and do the orchestration by itself. So much nicer to use imo

Technology@lemmy.world•Goodbye device ownership, and the last vestiges of free speech will die with this bill as well.English
32·11 days agoMost people in this thread have no clue what free speech is apparently. But Yankees love talking about how much freedom they have, so if that’s what it takes to rally them, so be it I imagine?

213·11 days agoGod some of you people are stupid.
The whole point of free speech is that it is free. If you need to hide anonymously, then it’s not free, it’s simply bypassing censorship.
Suppressing online anonymity is very problematic, but free speech is absolutely not one of them.
Thankfully most people hate insurance claims more than they like being assholes
You mean EX mode? IIRC recording mode doesn’t prevent exiting vim
The same applies to alcohol to some degree. We as a society need to set some limits

Technology@lemmy.world•Linux lays down the law on AI-generated code, says yes to Copilot, no to AI slop, and humans take the fall for mistakes — after months of fierce debate, Torvalds and maintainers come to an agreementEnglish
351·15 days agoThe (very obvious) point is that this cannot be enforced. So might as well deal with it upfront.

131·15 days agoPeople confuse GPTs with AI, but your comment takes the wrong approach: it’s not that AI hate is not deserved, it’s that the hate should be directed towards the chatbots and the associated bubble.
If by test you mean wait for customers to yell at us, it’s super robust
Wdym you don’t like waiting 3 weeks for a code owner to approve a 1 line change?

A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•The U.S. government is spending $88 billion a month in interest on national debt, equal to its spending on both defense and education combined
41·16 days agoYou’re describing this like it’s a life-hack, and not the entire reasons major economies moved away from the gold standard. To be able to take on debt “for free”
Do you eat the same thing every day at home?
Lol what MD is the goto job for making easy money. Getting the degree is difficult because everyone wants to do that job, not because it’s difficult per se

Probably someone forgot to wire the monthly bribes. Come on Canada, paying the local bully is neocolonialism 101.

Yeah that idiot couldn’t even stop himself from saying they rigged the last elections but somehow he’s now part of a fake assassination attempt?
