I do think it’s a bad idea, even as someone who saves sex for committed relationships.

• A lifelong commitment to a potentially disappointing physical relationship doesn’t seem like a great plan.
• Before sex, there’s a lot of incentive to present your best self. Afterwards people are a more comfortable presenting more of who they are.
• You learn a lot about someone’s priorities, self-control, receprocity, hang ups, etc.

You’re talking aout the ruling class, basically. Around their world their class interests generally align, so they act as one.

Sometimes the ruling class get into intra-class conflict - factions form or some members try to steal each other’s stolen wealth, but they’ll usually stop when it begins to threaten the interests of their class as a whole. See: every single war. Maybe WW1 they didn’t stop in time.

I think there’s a chance this was the plan all along and the ‘ceasefire’ was just a PR ploy to avoid having to admit the tuesday 8pm deadline was just a bad bluff that everyone saw through.

Our system was never designed to represent the wishes of the people. And it doesn’t.

The apathy of many us citizens to the idea that their government could possibly matter to them is a direct result of a massive legal, and influence campaign by far right elites, their representatives in government and their allies overseas. A functional state is supposed to have institutions to combat that.

The effectiveness of the current far right coup is a failure of our institutions, and the low participation of many in the US is a symptom of that failure, not a cause.
