12·2 days agoWe’re not subject to the ICC/ICJ.
Never signed that treaty.
In the US what makes a war crime criminal is the UCMJ and various other us law codes. We get rid of things like “no double tapping” and “you can declare no quarter be given” and suddenly it’s legal.
(There is a very pointed distinction between legal and moral. Explaining that to these fucks is useless.)

7·2 days agoYou’re missing the point.
I don’t care what YOU think he is.
It doesn’t matter what I think he is, either.
It does’t really matter what he actually is, if we’re being honest.
The only thing that matters is what HE thinks he is.
Seriously. If you wanna go back far enough, we’re all African. It’s only our own stupid little divisions floating through our heads that separates “us” from “them”, and Netanyahu certainly doesn’t see white people as part of “us”. You’re right about him also excluding others, as well. Doesn’t matter. He doesn’t see Ethiopian Jews as “us” anymore than he does white Americans.
He’s also an asshole, so fuck him all the way to The Hague.

5·2 days ago2 minutes of scrolling articles and quick comments is more refreshing than a 15 minute break relaxing. Because your brain is still “up” but it’s switching to a brand new task which (in a very simplified fashion) is a quick reboot for our brains, it’s just enough to push everything out of working memory so when you pivot back to what you were doing, it’s with a fresh set of eyes.
you realize these idiots in the C-Suite are going to read this and think the solution is to just give people more tasks, right?

But if your printer can handle it (i don’t know how difficult it is, mind,) polypropylene might be a good option. For example, the tic tac lid is made out of ppe.

politics @lemmy.world•Jeffries says Trump impeachment not a top priority if Dems win House majorityEnglish
6·4 days agothat’s excessively simplistic.
Trump did not win “because of the economy.”
He won because he was able to motivate his base to vote where Harris had been less able to do so.
Yes, Trump utilized “the economy” as a talking point, but he also utilized deregulation, and immigration (read: general bigotry and scapegoating) as well as LGBTQ+ and christofascist culture war bullshit. Trump’s voters are too stupid to understand that he’s lying to them, so that kind of messaging actually works.
Harris on the other hand also campaigned on “the economy”- and the cost of living and continued work to supporting not-millionaires; as well as shit like Trump’s former immigration plan and continued support for Israel and so on. harris/Democrat voters are not too stupid to see the problem with some of the things she adopted(immigration, supporting israel) and such like; while souring on economic messaging because Biden had been constantly running that out as if it were amazing while most Americans were struggling. (it took him until like the October before the presidential election to even acknowledge most Americans were still struggling.)
Basically, Trump won because Harris did exactly what the Jefferies is now doing; and that’s summed up as “Ignoring the American people”.

Or what Americans actually want. it’s not a “vocal minority” that want the pedophile, racist, bigoted asshole of a president that is jacking up our cost of living so he can be a fucking king gone. So ignoring that and saying you will do nothing about it IS NOT A WINNING STRATEGY.
doing nothing except writing stern letters is not going to solve the problem, either.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do you think it’s hard to feel sympathy for some people who get treated like shit and “abused”?English
5·5 days agoSo like.
What the first person is doing is called “harassment”, as well as “stalking”. If you’re being harassed and/or stalked… look for legal help (For example, in the US, you can get the courts to issue a protective order, which, when or if they continue to violate the order can lead to consequences like jail time.)
Someone who continues pushing like this is not safe to be around. at all. You may wish to get a consult from a lawyer before going to the cops, they can go over options.
In any case; no verbally abusing a person who is stalking and harassing you like this is not inappropriate. Sometimes, the abuse is deserved. especially when this is a slowly ramping escalation.

It’s important to note that once in court to testify, they’re going to investigate anyone testifying.
Both the prosecution and the defense. Depending on whose witness they are, one would be investigating to make sure you’re credible and the other to hopefully find something to discredit that.
Further while vigilantism is not necessarily illegal on its own, it’s generally (almost always,) going to involve other crimes.
Vigilantes do not have privileged arrest powers, so at best one is going to have to either work a case (legally,) and then turn things over to cops, or do crime (best the shit/kill the bad guy and pray they got it right.)(they probably haven’t.)
This means that by the time a vigilante takes the stand; they’ve done crimes and even if the entire system lets you … you’re gonna get arrested.
The only way out of that is to get outed and get immunity.
All of that said, if you were a bystander and not necessarily involved, you might be able to testify as your identity and not alter ego. You would have to explain what you were doing there, though.
And you’ll still be investigated… and probably found out.
