  • I know this post is about driving, but the more expensive gasoline is and the less we have available in general then we’re going to start having energy issues eventually since we don’t have a renewable energy grid (and won’t anytime soon even if we start building now). Energy issues means that hospitals and stuff will potentially have trouble powering all their equipment and you know it’s gonna be the poorest communities that are hit the hardest and soonest. I know that seems like it’s not gonna happen bc America is huge and all, but if this goes on for too long or if they actually just fucked up all oil production and distribution in the area (about 20% of the global supply iirc) then that is a very real danger

Like yes, I want this country to no longer be car-based and to have good public transit and renewable energy grids, but if this continues for too long it will absolutely devastate poorer communities and countries. Just look at what’s going on in Cuba right now bc of Trump restricting oil to the island

  • If you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you. -Lyndon B. Johnson

Basically, people were already really racist against black people, so it’s easier to just continue that narrative. Build upon all the lies that were used to try and justify enslaving black people to make poor people, including other black people who believe the lies, blame black people for all their problems. That way we fight amongst ourselves instead of looking at and justly blaming the people with power and money

Before Trump’s rise it had become not-okay to be openly racist in most of the country so they had to pivot to openly attacking a different group: queer people, specifically trans people. (They were still very racist, just less open about it.) Blaming a minority or marginalized group is a classic conservative move to stop people from developing class consciousness and realizing that a poor cis straight white man has infinitely more in common with a poor queer trans black woman than a rich (like billionaire rich) cis straight white man

  • The difference is that many people feel sexual attraction towards potentially anyone whereas demisexuals only potentially feel sexual attraction to people they’ve already formed a close bond with. It’s not about actually having sex with people, it’s about the sexual attraction or lack thereof

I’m ace and I was always confused about why people panic around hot people. I get panicking around someone new, but their hotness never plays into it. It was only until I learned about asexuality and learned that most people have a physical reaction to people they find physically/sexually attractive (whether that be increased heart rate, arousal, etc.) I’ve simply never experienced that. Demisexuals are similar in that they don’t deal with that for strangers but if they have a strong emotional connection with someone then they may start to feel sexual attraction
