I get a lot of crap for my New Balances, but they did 26km of meadow hiking and no problems on the feet. Thats a win in my book.

It honestly depends on the model.

I buy NB trail running shoes for walks in the woods with my dogs and they’ll last 2-3 years with everyday use.

I’ve bought models of their running shoe before for just everyday use and they fell apart quick.

My standbys are the 608s (or whatever number they’re at now) and the 481s.

I dont remember what model I got, but they were a mesh top, and where the mesh met the sole busted out almost immediately. I have slightly wide feet and bought a standard width pair, so I suspect that was part of the problem, but I certainly wouldn’t have expected them to blow out after less then two weeks or so.

The wider width offerings is why I became a fan. NB and Skechers are two that seem to have a lot of options in 4 EE.

I’m not allowed “cool shoes” because I require arch support. Both NB and Sketchers have specialized shoes that accommodate that, are comfortable, and reasonablely priced.

But I really want them to provide some styles that have good arch support that doesn’t radiate “old man orthopedics”.

It’s too bad because NB had a custom shoe designer page where you could build your own and it would be made in the USA.

They were a little expensive but worth it if you had special requirements. I’m pretty sure Covid killed that though.
