Snape went on, “The whole wizarding world is messed up. We have magic, we have wands that can do anything, and people in my world still have slaves.” He rejected Jost’s assertion that they’re actually called “house elves.” “Yes, some folk got house elves. I bet you didn’t know they got field elves too. They didn’t put that in the book, huh, Colin?”

Of all the characters, they chose the one guy that was famously bullied for being a slimy greasy pale looking blood supremacist to “ethnicity-bend”. It’s definitely an interesting choice.

Nerd Nitpick: At least in the movies, Aurora Sinistra is a black woman (not specified in the books, afaik). Also, Snape didn’t start as a Dark Arts professor, he was always a potions professor until the 6th book.

Wonder if they did this as a marketing scheme.

    • Many people don’t want to watch because Rowling doesn’t like trans people
    • Film series already had a perfect core cast, so some fans won’t want to give this new one a chance
    • Make Snape black
    • Flood the zone with dumb comments like “Damn so James Potter was a racist in this universe, i guess 😭😭”
    • People want to watch to meme on the “accidental race war” aspect of the show, similar to the Chicken Jockey phenomenon

Yes. I like that aspect of the story a lot, and it’s one of the things that doesn’t come across as “jumping the shark” which rowling is often criticised for.

yeah I saw something about slitherin being this evil by nature kind of comment and I was like. That. That is not what the story was saying at all. It was kinda a sterotype more and effects of the actual big bads infiltrating and using it. I mean they all came from it but its a bit like th nazis vs the german people. I mean draco is a hero by the end as well and it shows how despite being sorta indocrinated he recognized how stuff he has been taught at home was bulltrump.
