Danielle Smith is working hand-in-glove with private insurers to push health privatization in Alberta—and it could spread across Canada

Regardless of what happens in Alberta I’ll bet Danielle Smith will walk away from it all with a considerable amount of personal holdings.

There is not one example where private insurance is better than universal health care but they keep pushing it and people keep falling for it.

Greed, plain and simple. Unfortunately Albertans these days are a gullable bunch it seems, they need to get back to their roots.

If y’all’s up there to decide to copy the US, joke’s on you? I mean not really, corruption is a motherfucker, but also wow the US is a perfect example how why private health care kills.

And is actually the opposite of health care.

The ultimate goal of Bill 11 is the creation of a private, for-profit fast lane for what should be publicly insured care—and a slower, public lane for those who can’t afford to pay.

This is the easiest campaign in history. Simple 15-second ad:

“Look at what American’s pay for healthcare, and look at what they get for it. You really think that’s better?”

How is it not obvious that either 1: they are rigging shit and simply not allowing us to actually win and/or 2: people are actually too fucking stupid to understand that FOR PROFIT ANYTHING will cost more money.

Like it has to be 1 because i refuse to believe everyone is this fucking stupid. We are past the ballot box.

The funny thing is that a lot of Conservatives think that the profit motive + free market efficiencies will reduce costs, and that public systems are full of lazy incompetents who are wasting taxpayer dollars.

And… They’re not entirely wrong, either. And I say this as an educated NDP voter. They’re mostly wrong, because of many factors that mostly boil down to 1%ers building laws and systems to further concentrate wealth. And that wealth they’re hoarding is from profit motive leading to lower costs and the free market increasing efficiency… And also from profit motive leading to higher prices and that most of the reduced costs aren’t efficiencies, they’re cutting corners to deliver inferior services.

        But their world view:

        • Makes sense
        • Is simple
        • It’s internally consistent and coherent
        • It’s supported by lots of research (mostly in theoretical economics, mind you…)
        • Blames “others”/outsiders for their problems
        • Etc. etc. etc.

There’s a reason uneducated, young, white, male voters are flocking to the Cons. The Left’s answers are, by comparison, complicated and messy, with lots of grey area, and involve significant change to systems that have perpetuated white make privilege. So, even though uneducated white males would be far better off in a progressive world, it’s much harder to convince them.

It sadly doesn’t matter. Smith could slaughter a school bus full of infants on live TV and she would still win the next election.

Conservatives, both Canadian and American, operate in a post-truth mindset where facts no longer matter. Their manufactured hatred for “the other side” will drive them to act entirely against their own interests and wellbeing entirely out of fear or just to spite their perceived foes. This is further amplified by the conservative tradition of attacking education and free press so people can’t even learn the truth if they wanted it.

We can see it very clearly with the MAGA cult in the US. They are in so deep that the only way they will ever get their heads out of their ass is to lose everything they’ve ever held dear and even then it might not be enough.

They need to be what gets lost.

We need to bring the consequences to them. If these elections are not being cheated, then democracy is failing. Our choice is, we accept it and become the victims in a world of stupid brutes or we do what’s right for the future of whoever had children.

Living in their future is worse than death and death is coming regardless. The choice is clear.

    This is incredible.

BTW, Sun Life is also already in on the Canada Dental Plan. They run it, not the fed gov’t.
