Honestly, it probably isn’t about profit.

They’re a company. Literally everything they do is about profit. The “new strategy and new approach” is because the CEO believes it will give better profits. It feels very strange to look at this and come to a different conclusion. Six of one, half dozen of the other. It’s all about profit.

Disney prioritizes long term planning and seems to not want to burn all their franchises for the sake of a few short term dollars. They have made a lot of content, some of it good, but they also listen to fans and scaled back on the constant barrage of movies and shows.

And that’s listening to fans over shareholders. It’s important that this is understood because it shows there is more than profit motive to what Disney leadership is doing. Don’t be blinded by labels - look at the reality of what they are doing and you can see why they are doing these things.

Exactly, I don’t see why that’s such a difficult concept to grasp. “We want another Blah movie!” Proceeds to make another entry in the Blah franchise. “I can’t wait to go spend money on the Blah franchise!” And somehow they think that’s not a profit driven motivation and ignoring share holders to listen to fans? Do they think the fans wanted 1000 jobs cut or something?

And why do you think they’re doing all those things? Because they believe it will turn them a profit. They’re not doing it out of the goodness of their hearts. They didn’t cut 1000 jobs out of the goodness of their hearts. It’s all because of profits.

I’m not trying to go full doomer here, I believe companies can make good decisions while pursuing profits, but if they ever thought doing the good thing or what the fans wanted would be a net loss, they wouldn’t do it.
