I was wondering that!
I thought the Steam Frame was going to be available “soon”, so it came as a bit of a surprise that they just hired someone to work on it.

Well, yes, but I would expect something time-senstive to be solved quickly be the State Department’s IT department.
They should have been able to do something like this in less time than “days”.
For what it’s worth, I think our State Department equivalent (I’m German) would have also struggled with something like this, but I am quite certain that they are extremely lacking in skilled IT workers lol

The rattest rat

It took the US state department days to work out how to open the document.
My nieces school sent her mother (my sister) a WPS document “share” link. The website does not offer a download, but the link can be opened in the installed free version and from there the file can be obtained.
It wasn’t difficult or complicated, so I think this says something about the IT skills of the US state department…

On the first computer I ever built with parts bought with my own money (around 2006 or 2007) I chose one of the best mainboards available at the time (ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe lol).
It cost about 160€ back then. That is about 250€ in todays money. There was a slightly more expensive “crosshair” version of this board, but really nothing more expensive than that.
The last mainboard I bought was “low-end” one that cost about 200€ (around two years ago).
Back then (~2006) you could get a “okay” mainboard for 50€ (~90€ today).
To me all but the lowest-end stuff seems a lot more expensive today.
For my first PC I bought an Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS, which was the second-best GPU at the time. The GTX model cost around 500€ (~770€ today) if I remember correctly.
My first self-bought computer cost me about 1300€ and was pretty close to top of the line.
I haven’t really seen that sentiment anywhere.
I am watching the show, but I don’t think it’s very good.
It’s a fun bit of escapism, though.
I would rate it 6 out of 10. It’s alright, nothing more.
