Dune is like 10,000 years past the Butlerian Jihad which is supposed to be an existential war against AI and humans that leaves Earth unrecognizable. Even generously that’s still not even close to this millenia

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How did you learn to ignore that one person at work who always tried to annoy you and make you react to them?English
10·7 days agoNot at work but I briefly lived with that guy. I just started agreeing with him on everything. “And we all know what the correct opinion on net neutrality is” “Yes we do.”
“People just don’t understand what Trump is doing” “Yeah, you’re so right”
There’s really nowhere to go when you just vaguely agree with what they’re saying but don’t commit to anything

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•What would you personally consider a shitpost? Basic definition below. Let me know how your definition varies.English
7·8 days agoI take the Supreme Court’s line on shitposts. They’re hard to define, but I know it when I see it

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are the best pieces of 'stock' media you've encountered?English
10·8 days agoI’m not sure it’s exactly what you’re going for but the Wii Shopping channel music kicked ass. Additionally the 1988 Crystal Light Aerobics Championship has this jam

World News@lemmy.world•People of Burkina Faso should forget about democracy, says military rulerEnglish
243·14 days agoBurkina Faso also pulled themselves out of the International Criminal Court with similar logic. They said America, Isreal, Russia, and China all get to do basically whatever they want globally while Burkina Faso is constantly slapped with sanctions
Now those sanctions are because that country is one of the most dangerous on the planet, so it’s hard to take the military leader at his word. Even if he had a valid point

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Recommendations on games in which you don't play as the "good guy".English
0·16 days agoYeah, it’s a little spoilery to say but the game tries to force you to learn that lesson. Trying to be a good cop and being straight edge is pretty frustrating. Then once you take a morally gray choice and it advances the plot, you use some drugs to meet a check and there aren’t really consequences. Then by the end of the game you’re high on 4 different drugs punching children and you understand the point they were making

1·16 days agoDisco Elysium’s protagonist is a walking disaster and there are a lot of ways you can play him. Honestly playing him as a totally morally upright professional is one of the harder ways to play. You definitely don’t feel like a hero while you’re playing

1·16 days agoThe first 2 you are absolutely unequivocally the bad guy, those were going to be my suggestions. I think the second 2 it’s a little spoilery to tell people you’re the bad guy
Eh, Revivify gives me another 10 rounds to get to them and we can just expense the 300 gold to the king

Batman/Superman: Apocalypse
It’s a movie primarily about Supergirl, that largely takes place on earth and does not threaten the end of the world. It does briefly go to Apokolips, but that’s a different word than the title
