I mean, I have a LOT of reason to dislike the guy. But changing his position based on the people he’s supposed to (or wants to) represent when they go from, “yes please give us all the corporate dogging you can” to “ummm actually that hurts, please stop” is not something I will throw shade for.
Of course I know it’s more nuanced than that, and that he’s only listening to, and speaking for, whomever is listening at the time. But still, we need to be careful to not lionize politicians that change positions based on changing situations. And the attitude towards data centers and AI has changed a LOT in the last 5 years.

If it helps, you’re VTSAX 401k right now would only lose about 0.1% value if SpaceX dropped to $0. By June 2027 when all insider shares are unlocked it could go as high as 1.5%, but again only if it went to $0.
I hate Musk, I think SpaceX as an IPO was trash, and I disagree with the rule changes for index inclusion. But big picture, our 401k will be fine.
yes I know that … now, but also again because I really just had a complete brain fart.
face palm. derrrrrrr. yeah it was early and I’m just clearly an id10t
All I was thinking of was, “nothing [substantial] gets between the earth and the moon”
why would the moon EVERY see the earth as a crescent?

The ol’ wallet biopsy

green space magic
naw. still just super advanced tech indistinguishable from magic. But I also know that’s a bit of a contentious topic.
No. That honor goes to The Expanse. After that, all other space shows are unwatchable from a physics reality POV.

Nor is decentralization controversial. And there can be a conversation about making sure it is not actively discouraged.
But economies of scale are real. Does that mean a single power plant for the entire US, continent, world is a good idea? Of course not. Nor is 8.3 billion* individual installations.

At some point, something lead to a mutation that turned curly hair into straight hair, and that seems to have been selected for in populations living in colder climates. But that doesn’t mean it increased chances of survival. Maybe it was just preferred by sexual partners for some reason, which may even have been cultural at that point.
Perhaps the hair change was the result of some other gene expression that was beneficial while the hair change itself was neutral-ish.

I’m here right now in fact. Been in Prague since the 15th and now Innsbruck and the heat has been crazy

Let’s hope he doesn’t. Because if he does that means it happens even sooner than his natural life lasts.
Yes. I know climate change is happening now. but that’s harder to incorporate into a short comment on the hope that a narcissist won’t live long enough to have to give a shit about it.

You misspelled “commit suicide with two gun shots to the back of the head”

Call me when it starts to corner the Toilet Paper Market. Because THAT is when it has become sentient and is planning the next economic apocalypse.

For those asking / pronouncing this has to be satire, perhaps. But not for long. AI is still not making a profit. So whatever it costs today at the growth-at-all-costs subsidized rate, think how much more expensive it will be when investors start insisting on profit after market consolidation*.
Because if you think there is a competitive barrier to entry for smartphones, operating systems, CPUs, and streaming services, you ain’t seen NOTHING yet
literally zero disagreement.
