Anything people on iOS can do? Other than switch to a google phone

I haven’t seen the posts (probably from deletion) but Lemmy to me is an invaluable source of smart Linux and selfhosters. Seems like a great place to ask questions for problem to me on the surface. Where should people like me go to if I need help? Genuinely asking

I imagine that is what happened. Fear of reversing can make somebody plunge further ahead with some hope they could get out of it at a lower point with no repercussions? Still the wrong move but people be dumb
Realized this in 2016 when real life people I knew slowed way down on sharing and shifted to using social media as consumption platforms. Most people I know talk themselves into needing it for work or distant relatives but it’s 99% reels and doomscrolling. I have no answers.

Going directly against your ask: a raspberry pi 3b is cheap and has what you need. :)

One way they will get around this through consolidation of companies as they merge and strike deals. We’ve already seen Disney+ “add value” when they added Hulu to their package. Long history of this but streaming is scary cause it’s not just traditional tv media. The goal of Netflix isn’t to be a movie studio. All of these “streaming” companies all want to become an Amazon. Grow, grow, grow. Add gaming, add some shopping, add a built-in advertising and data aggregation tool, whatever it takes, then get bought out bigger fish. Become new product. I give it a decade before “big tech” controls Hollywood and most American media.

Good job!

I’ve been disappointed that the internet especially recently feels like a re-post machine with occasional Trump headlines. I was getting disappointed that people were really that cyclical and returning to old, barely funny stuff. This gives me weird hope that it’s not dumb people en-masse. Just dumb bots en-masse.

I grew up culturally Christian and surrounded by soft-references to Christian stuff all the time. I try to see past whatever the literal thing they are saying and see the metaphor they are trying to express. People can have limited vocabulary and grow up in bubbles of their family, church, whatever. I try to give them Grace and just move on. Ultimately, they are trying to communicate a good thing with you. As long as they don’t start evangelizing or guilting, that’s different.
There’s actually a fascinating history(conspiracy?) of how American public schools which used to make their own lunches slowly got pinched by changing nutrition standards and swept into Gordon Food Service (?) frozen food hell because it was cheaper at the time. Super glad I got live through it all! /s

The computer or spreadsheet idea is a bit ridiculous to me on account of even ancient humans could devise the same method in a smaller scale without the backbreaking 5,000 holes being dug. Every other idea presented by the article makes sense to me.

US Midwest 9-5 jobs are normal even when not really sensical for all businesses. Very much a control and “you sit here cause I pay you to.” I worked a place that expected 8:30am - 5:30pm with an hour lunch break. Salaried work. I worked hourly at a distribution center that was 8:30 - 5:00pm with half hour lunch.

Works inside a closed system! Too many bad actors/sites across borderlines all directions in the real world.

Despite interesting debates. I think they all ignore the big issue: the internet.

Thank you. I feel like addressing the pure science of this is important. Not only do Americans poop, every cultures on the planet poops the same way (more or less). We are the same! Break down borders! Anarchy! Shit everywhere! No. Literally, visit an American truck stop. SHIT EVERYWHERE!

Paywall bypass or tl;dr?

No, there is a simple answer for sex and relationships out there. There’s gotta be. I JUST NEED TO FIND IT. LOUD NOISES.

Could be confused with Noam Chomsky but Dawkins appears up in the emails, probably with code names half the time: https://jmail.world/search?q=Dawkins
