A meshnet over the internet would have more bandwidth. Various things have been tried. I2P is a kind of logical meshnet over the internet.

31·2 days agoHey thanks for doing that critical investigation. Although I posted propaganda and that wasn’t smart of me, It’s good to know those numbers are likely a misrepresentation and Israelis may not be as thoroughly extreme as that report makes them look.

13·3 days agoOn the other hand the responses of Israelis in opinion polls are not encouraging. From last July:
Personal response to the reports from Gaza: From examining the conduct of the state, we moved to a more personal question, asking: “To what extent are you personally troubled or not troubled by the reports of famine and suffering among the Palestinian population in Gaza?” A very large majority of Jewish respondents reported that they are not so troubled or not at all troubled personally by events in Gaza (79%), while the majority of Arabs said that they are very troubled or somewhat troubled (86%).
In the Jewish sample, we found no difference by gender (with 80% of women and 78% of men not troubled), while in the Arab sample we found that women are more troubled than men by the situation in Gaza (women, 92%; men, 80%).

News@lemmy.world•Flu vaccine no longer mandated for US troops, Hegseth says
4·3 days agoI agree that, stated outright, it can sound paranoid and conspiratorial. But think of it as a mindset: “if the poors die that’s because they deserve it, for not being as smart/tough/clever/strong as us”, along with background assumptions about white racial superiority and needing to counter a “great replacement” of whites. Looked at that way, as implicit at least in their outlook if not consciously held, it doesn’t seem so implausible that this is influencing their policy decisions.

News@lemmy.world•Flu vaccine no longer mandated for US troops, Hegseth says
10·3 days agoOne thing I think is going on is an unstated fascist eugenics project, where instead of helping people live they try to set up conditions where many will die. The white supremacists in charge believe that they can filter out the weak and inferior through disease, starvation, and other adverse conditions, leaving behind only the glorious genetically superior white Übermenschen like, er, Donald Trump, Pete Hegseth, Stephen Miller and RFK Jr. There is Nazi thinking behind much of what they do.
Doing this to your own armies in the middle of a war seems clearly stupid, but then so do white supremacist eugenics and starting a war with Iran.

politics @lemmy.world•Flu vaccine no longer mandated for US troops, Hegseth says
7·4 days agoWilful ignorance was a key element in Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s theory of stupidity. It was the aggressive resistance to learning that he thought made the stupid person especially dangerous. And we see this characteristic in Trump, his sycophants like Hegseth, and his followers.
AKA “Microsoft’s QA”.

For Republicans this is a feature, not a bug.
