Through the Whittaker time I stopped watching. It wasn’t her, it was by far the show runner and writing.

The Doctor who has murdered entire civilizations suddenly so anti violence at all. The whiney companions. Every episode a thousand plus year old being was constantly surprised and didn’t know anything about what she encountered.

It just didn’t feel like the same show anymore.

I’ve had my gfs accord emergency brake on me twice. One was coming to a hairpin turn on a mountain and an rv had pulled off onto a turn out for us to pass. And another was several car lengths away from a car making a turn into a drive way. Neither of which were even remotely close to an accident. It just freaked out.

And I’ve had tons of beeps for side streets with cars park along a gentle curve which the car doesn’t understand the fucking road turns. I HATE all the tech.

I wonder how much could be done to send something backwards and forwards at say, 1 year intervals and measure the difference from where it’s expected and where it ended up. Your wind up with some map of the calibration point over time.

Seems like calibration could be done with essentially unlimited time for the system to run.

Benefit of pots is it doesn’t go out when the Internet does (unless your provider has a VOIP backend, but usually those would be more robust than your home.)

Ultimately, it is cheaper for EVERYONE if we all just pitch in a little. You may pay a little for schools that you don’t have kids to go to, but you pay LESS for things like roads, sewers, and trash disposal.

This isn’t a min-max system where you can adjust to only what you use and come out ahead. If you try, you end up paying more. Not just in the services themselves, but in the administration and middle management of the systems to handle calculating who used each system and how much they used it.

So as a community, we all pitch in and we all benefit.

We should all be fucking PROUD to pay taxes. We should be proud that our money goes towards educating all the people around us. We should be proud that we have parks and schools where children can play, learn, and grow up safely. We should be proud we have fire and medical teams who dedicate their life to helping others and keeping them safe on the worst day of people’s lives. We should be proud to live in places that are attractively maintained. We should be proud to spend our money on conserving the environment around us. We should be fucking proud to have libraries that lend out not just books, but tools and board games and toys. We should be proud that we pay so we don’t have to live in sewage and trash infested places.

We should be PROUD to pay taxes.

I think when it flips the other way they get an extra hour further apart.

I always keep a bottle of medicinal vodka around.

They are hard to put out, but if you want them to burn all you really need is a safe place to do it. So in a big crucible with some type of fume extraction so they aren’t crazy polluting the air. As long as the heat has somewhere safe to go and there isn’t anything else to catch on fire, burning things is easy.

Which is why I don’t look for made in USA. I look for small local companies. I also refuse to support those small local companies if they are super patriotic. I hate how they’ve co-opted nationalism for advertising. Plus, it usually means they’re maga skid stains and I don’t want to support them.

A “made in USA” sticker with a flag on it is pretty bargain basement for companies I want to buy from.
