My 2 cents: She was 11 when the movie was shot - it’s one thing to replace a 16 year old with a 18 year old actor, even with a similar story, but there is not one 18 (or even 16) year old you could put into that role and say it’s still the same movie. The psychological impact of being confronted with literally a child’s body in this context is not comparable in my opinion.

Personal experience: yes, the medication they put me on when i was suicidal and stayed at a psychiatric ward numbs you emotionally, which would also mean that the emotional response to awful news is very muted. I did not feel nothing, but it’s a bit like the effect of noise cancelling headphones, but for emotions.

I was not happy about that at that time, but it made functioning and working in therapy a hell of a lot easier compared to the dumpster fire of emotions i had to deal with before that.

And everyone reacts differently to bad news - damn, when my sister was in an car accident where she got pretty hurt, her first reaction was to laugh her ass off, and then hurling abuse at the medics during the whole ambulance ride.

Magyar already announced that he will partner up with EU institutions to deal with the widespread corruption, and i think that outside view will be a valuable help it attaining that goal.

Maybe it would be easier to dissolve the state and start from a clean slate - but even then you couldn’t be sure that the people you take in for their know-how aren’t guilty as well, potentially setting yourself up for a few not so nice surprises.

I do only care about what shirt you wear as a global cue what style of music you might like or i like the design and artwork. The rest is really not that important.

I like a few bands where i would be hard pressed to name songs, because i only know them from streaming recommendations, which i only use while on the road; I might mark the band as a favorite, and some months later i go through my faves, check if they are still to my liking, and if they are, i make them available offline - that’s the point where i start learning album/track names.

The whine about removing X11 is pretty annoying. Fedora has done the same, and the impact of doing so seems to be pretty small; Xwayland provides the compatibility layer needed, and Nvidia driver issues have been pretty much eliminated.

The sudo change is a design choice and from an accessibility point of view a positive thing - people having problems with typing on a keyboard will probably welcome the change to make it visible when they properly hit a key.

But i can get behind the rest of the critique - an LTS release shouldn’t have feature incomplete and standard-ignoring core utils, and the audio dependency on snap is bordering on publicly taunting snap opponents. Also, an LTS probably shouldn’t opt for a bleeding edge kernel. And what is the reason for the (for a linux distribution) pretty high RAM requirements?

If someone asks me for an recommendation for linux newbies, i will probably go with fedora (or nobara if they game much). It’s been rock solid for me, easy to use for a newbie, and still gives you all the freedom you want if you are an advanced user.

I misread that, but it seems i am not the only one :-) We can agree on Electron being a lazy way of providing a program - I’ll excuse it if it’s a small game from a single dev, but everyone else should do it the right way.
