19·23 days agoThe actual tool uses two magnets to unlock the mechanism and allow you to slide the tab.
On the wider ones, the heel of your shoe to the center top of the clear plastic will cause it to bow and open up.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is Framework an ethical company?English
334·2 months agoI think context matters here. There currently isn’t any outwardly unethical behavior on their behalf and they’re building products that are designed to be maintained and upgraded, which is a big step forward when you consider things like e-waste and protecting the environment. Those products still contain materials that through mining or producing, result in pollution and potentially underpaid labor in large factories.
I would say the scales tip to them being currently more ethical than competitors in the same space. That could change at any time and I’m sure there’s stuff we don’t know that some would frown upon.

20·2 months agoI just don’t understand why people go to the lengths they do as cyber bullies. Isn’t ignoring a person you detest a more reasonable method than investing all of that energy and time into doing petty nonsense?

61·2 months agoHe may not have the product vision or salesmanship of Jobs, but he’s a logistics genius and was a MAJOR part of saving Apple when he came on. I’m reading the book “Apple in China”, and he was very responsible for Apple’s incredible supply chain and the fact that Apple, itself, holds relatively little inventory with the exception of its stores.
The company has grown exponentially under Cook. The problem is that there hasn’t really been an awe inspiring new product developed fully under him.

Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft now offering chance to win $1 million or a car if you switch to EdgeEnglish
17·2 months agoMicrosoft is a very large lumbering giant that seems to lack a cohesive vision forward, especially on the consumer front. Every single piece of consumer facing software lacks a cohesive design language, and seems to be regressing in usability. No one is truly primed to replace them yet in either the corporate or consumer businesses however, something like the MacBook Neo can certainly take a few points of market share away from the standard consumer

I hate that there’s no room for atonement and growth in the current conversation. I don’t know anything about her other than what I see in this article, but if she’s genuinely sorry and looking to support the people she hurt, that’s worth a ton. She grew as a person. Good for her.

I’m still not sure what my feelings on the subject are. I don’t use the app myself, but besides its connection to a company in China and, therefore, the Chinese government, it seems to do the same exact tracking and algorithm manipulating that every other social network does.

1·3 years agoIt was to be expected, but I found Lemmy because of everything that happened, uninstalled Reddit, and now use Mastodon and Lemmy as my social media platforms of choice, so it’s a personal win.
Hopefully, as Lemmy continues to thrive, instances hold up to the pressure of growth and we see an influx of content that made Reddit so valuable to users and Reddit corporate alike.
