News@lemmy.world•New Jersey governor hits out at Fifa over reported $100 World Cup train tickets: ‘They should pay’
621·8 days agoThey’re fucking up the commuter trains to accommodate the world cup, it’s a fucking shit show.
Fuck FIFA, corrupt, greedy bastards taking a working class sport and making it into this monstrosity.
Phenomenal point, thank you for taking the time to explain.
Expand on that

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•Steam Controller shows signs of life, as leaker suggests that Valve has received its "first large quantity" shipments
4·9 days agoRoommate has one and I didn’t like the feel as much as the DS4 and the DS4 is cheaper than the DS5. But I had been considering the DS4 over the 8-bitdo, and this is so minor, but I liked that the DS controllers had the speaker compatibility with Death Stranding 1 and 2 to add some little sound effects to the game. Tho those are the only two games I’ve seen it work with on the PC so it’s so so minor.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•Steam Controller shows signs of life, as leaker suggests that Valve has received its "first large quantity" shipments
3·9 days agoI keep rebuilding the same DS4 controller as it’s ideal as a PC controller, both wired and Bluetooth protocol. But it keeps breaking or wearing down on me and parts keep going up in price and the dang thing is getting beat up. I looked into the 8-bitdo controllers but I didn’t care for the only one they had with the DS layout, their retro one.
I’ll heavily consider the Steam Controller 2 if the price and quality is right.

11·9 days agoOh snap it’s got the Playstation joystick config… I kinda want this to replace my dying DS4 I’ve repaired a few times now. I wonder how easy it’ll be to reach over those pads and touch the sticks

“Ahhh Mr. Albatross, we’ve seen your social media traffic and we’ve been expecting you! In anticipation of your arrival, we’ve prepared some lovely poop, if you would just step this way…”

China can’t do dick to me nor should they want to. I’m just a lil guy! The US does nasty things to its citizens on the reg, I don’t wanna be caught up in that!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What unethical life hack would you recommend to others?
3·14 days agoOooooooh that makes sense! Thanks for explaining. Yeah I wish we had legislation around it here, it’s stupid that I have to play games to get lower prices on things.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What unethical life hack would you recommend to others?
18·14 days agoWait what??
The consumer is barred from swapping providers annually to get better rates? Or are they barred from lying about fake quotes to get a better rate from their current provider?
Edit: By chance did you mean “price walking”? I did some searching online and I couldn’t find anything about the UK forbidding consumers from changing insurance companies to seek lower prices by searching for “policy walking” but I did find something about insurers slowly increasing prices on customers (thus creating the need for the behavior I suggested) called “price walking”, though I didn’t see anything about it’s legality. Admittedly, I’m just skimming while working.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What unethical life hack would you recommend to others?
562·14 days agoEvery year, call your insurance/internet/phone/TV etc. provider and tell them one of their competitors gave you a lower quote and you want them to match it or come close.
They will often give you a better rate just for asking. It’s easier if you do have an actual quote to compare it against but you don’t need one. Everything is made up. Just ask to pay less and threaten to stop paying them and they’ll often just give it to you.
Even if they refuse, just say, “Okay. I need some time to think about whether or not I want to continue our relationship or switch.” Hang up and do nothing.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•In your opinion, is space exploration necessary?
4·14 days agoIt’s good to keep in mind that the cost of space exploration vastly pales in comparison to most social programs which also vastly pale in comparison to the military budget.
We should absolutely focus on helping people on Earth, but we don’t need to cut space exploration to do that, just war.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•If I got in a collision with a car from the 70s with a car today, would not the 70s car win out since it would primarily be metal? If so why don't people buy more 70's cars?
174·15 days agoThe car from the 70’s survives accidents better because more of it is rigid, but this makes it more dangerous as more of the force of the accident is transferred to the driver.
Modern crumple zones are placed intentionally so that while the car will crumple, the driver will not.

There’s a sickening irony in this being a film made by Warner Brothers. I dunno who else could make it due to IP law, and yet…
