Autistic and ADHD, Im a huge nerd who loves researching whatever interests me that day. My lifetime passions range from AI(actual AI, not LLMs. I was working on AI a decade before LLMs hit he market), programming, inventing, educating, futurism, tech, space, and for the last couple years bioengineering. I use lemmy as my only “social media”, and even then i mostly use it for news or memes. I hate society as is it ableist, hippocritical, uncaring to those whose value cant be extracted, and most humans are pretty cringe. As such i have no desire for “social media”, it suffers from the exact same issues reality TV suffers from.
I do have a biological desire to socialize however, so i prefer to have a small group i am intensely devoted towards, whether that be friends, family, or a lover. If youre looking for a personal connection i would like for you to reach out, but if youre a guy then be forewarned: i will not respond to misogyny, i cant comfort you,

Technology@lemmy.world•AI warfare triggers Putin, as Kremlin moves to dismantle the last pieces of Russian internet: More and more restrictions are being imposed on the internet in RussiaEnglish
13·3 days agoI hate the US and Russia equally, i dont have a side in this. That being said, what are you actually saying here? I dont think anyone is saying we should invade Russia.
Nah, it wasnt anything truly revolutionary. It was just some weird impedence effect we didnt fully understand how it was utilizing. AI doesnt really produce NEW stuff, but its really good at taking advantage of physics weve already worked out. Its not going to design a NEW chip, but it can pretty easily optimize existing chips or design a “new” layout that might be more efficient.
Whats your bad fairy doing?
Do this is ALMOST an actual thing. Seems like this guy tried to use an LLM to do something useful, lol. Meanwhile actual scientists are using actual AI to design actual conputer chips that actually perform better than their human competitors. That being said, the new chips are not “end-to-end” AI, theyre designed by AI and a human does the final touches. Theyre also highly unique, i cant find the article now but their AI designed a chip that seemed to use extra parts, i remember there was a diode and transistor that were literally completely seperated from the traces of the rest of the chip, and yet they were functional pieces and the chip wouldnt work if you removed them.

6·6 days agoOk, then you agree that we should be protecting childrens data? So then something like a bug bounty would’ve been an overall plus here? Kid gets to test his skills, a new vulnerability in the system gets found, and everyone wins.
The website was vulnerable, if he didnt do it someone more malicious wouldve. They shouldve offered a bug bounty if they actually cared about the data.
I cant get people to pay me enough to live here, how can i rely on charity/people willing to pay me elsewhere? Literally i have no issue working, I just want to make enough money to survive

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Scam Altman says it’ll take another year before ChatGPT can start a timer. An $852 billion company, ladies and gentlemen.
2·13 days agoIt seems to be a flaw in both the hardware and software side of things. Hardware wise, we have yet to make chips that achieve the processing density of human brain matter. Also, heat generation becomes an issue as you try to scale smaller systems up. Software wise, we know our current neural networks dont scale up well, so we seem to be waiting on some more foundational research for more efficient algorithms. My suspicion is that we’re not really going to get true General Superintelligence until we start manufacturing chips that incorporate living neurons, it just really seems cheaper to use already existing computing systems than to design your own architecture.

2·13 days agoFundamentally yes and no. Original commentor could’ve saved his breath, if people wanted to be educated on AI they have plenty of resources to do so but instead they choose to remain ill informed. The difference is that humans are capable of critical thinking and conceptual connection. We are just as prone to mistakes as AI, we just have a much higher apptitude for mistakes lol. Hence the goal not being to make a perfect AI, its a much more achievable goal of making AI’s that beat us in specific fields. Then to beat us in all fields.

11·13 days agoI personally think the genocide of the human race is justified, but anything short of every single person is just needless slaughter and causes more suffering than it solves.
But yes, I believe this because as a general rule humans are fucking stupid animals who figured out violence and oppression and then never evolved past that.

2·14 days agoI really enjoy when people dont know the difference between democracy and republic. Democracy isnt failing, it simply hasnt been tried since athens. Whats failing is the system of corruption people like to call a “republic”. Why tf you would elect people to represent your interests instead of representing your interests is beyond me. Republics are the original ‘outsourcing your thinking’ creation.

Get beat when they dont do their job right, which is often. Theres a reason teenagers back then looked like theyd endured a lifetimes worth of hardship.
