Sometimes people don’t react emotionally to shocking news because they’re in shock. Surprising, right? It’s common enough that we named the phenomenon after it. So the part about the police suspecting you only applies if the cops are both idiots and inexperienced. Or fictional and poorly written.
But yes, heavy/inadequate medication can numb people even to the most otherwise horrific events, which I sadly know from personal experience.
I hope it is, but at the same time it just doesn’t seem plausible given all the awful things we see in the news like transphobic legislation being passed in so many places.

The explanation may be as simple as that the word works better as an expletive by keeping the stressed syllable. All the examples you gave are “friendly” clippings but “viado” is derogatory.
