Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL Vim uses hjkl keys for cursor movement because they doubled as arrows keys on Bill Joy's original keyboard.English
5·5 days agoI think I’d be okay with that. I’ve setup my keyboard so that FN+wasd act as arrow keys and I will occasionally use them that way in my editor even if I primarily use vim style movement

1·14 days agoI thought Americans didn’t need us for anything so maybe they can fuck off?
Generational infighting among the working class only serves the wealthy and corporations who are who we should actually be angry at.
In a decade you’ll see memes blaming your generation for not doing anything and can you actually point to anything you’ve done besides creating a meme blaming boomers?
Oh I misunderstood this comment initially and thought you were admitting to making alt accounts to downvote but someone actually created a bunch of alts with your name to downvote you and others? Psychotic behaviour lol
Amazing thank you! I was getting close to unsubscribing since new (seemingly bot) users would flood this community and my front-page as a result
edit: wow the vote counts on the comments in this thread are weird

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•PC Gamer: "I'm brave enough to say it: Linux is good now, and if you want to feel like you actually own your PC, make 2026 the year of Linux on (your) desktop"English
1·3 months agoI get the sentiment but the article is more targeted at the PC gaming crowd that isn’t exactly tech-illiterate but probably only knows Linux from memes about it requiring you to recompile a kernel to install Chrome or some other BS like that
I think a good portion of Lemmy and the fediverse already know it’s been at this level for a long while now but I’m excited to see articles like this since it means the tide is turning against Windows for the average user

In Canada I believe you just get given cash but nearly all of our gun violence is done with illegally smuggled guns from the USA (maybe we need a border wall? 🙂) so it doesn’t have a huge effect on it. We generally have sane laws regarding firearms so gun violence is relatively low already though.
