I’m always so extremely confused about the trope of the personal project having shit quality… Like, if I’m doing something for myself, that’s exactly the place where I wanna do something amazing, like literally all my private projects have much higher quality than my work ones - because in the work ones I’m forced to use stupid conventions, old tools, am not supposed to touch “legacy” code, etc etc etc

As such, since companies have their private code on GitHub, that’s where I would expect the shittiness to come from, not personal private projects.

Idk, I never reinstalled anything and just installed a bunch of packages and followed some configuration guides for Arch and the respective packages. Took probably 5 hours or so to get the whole thing set up to a place where I could use it for 95% of things I usually do, which is gaming and browsing.

My country has a social safety net, you don’t lose your home when you go unemployed. You just live in poverty instead, which for me, was preferable.

I dealt with it by becoming unemployed and living off of social security.

Would be cool to have the money to afford a car or motorcycle and their respective licenses/insurance/gas/etc.

I’m not sure what you’re arguing for here, you really can’t be arguing against online interactions being muuuuch easier, that seems to just be obvious. And some people can only handle these easiest kinds of interactions.

Even if you make other kinds interactions easier, that’s just not enough for some people. Then, internet interactions are amazing.

It doesn’t matter where you are. When you go to another place it’s the same, you are not at home instantly when you start to leave, you have to ride buses and trains where there is more people.

It is almost trivial to move git code from one hoster to another. If GitHub becomes so bad, you just move.
