From Mike King

I almost dropped the camera and put my arms out for a hug… probably a good thing I didn’t follow through with that thought. Barred owl. Dillon State Park, Ohio.

Long time since a good barred! Admittedly it took me too long to go from “fully black eyes . . . yellow beak . . . s-short, no wait . . . mmmottled . . ooh! Barred!”

But hey. The joy is in the learning amirite

The Barreds often aren’t so popular here. I thought this pose woulda helped, but while it’s doing ok, it’s the least popular of the day’s posts. I often just enjoy most of them on my own.

Good job again on the ID! I get a real kick out of you guys that are getting into this like yourself and sxan.

Science suggests dumb things for improving brain activity. Identifying owls should be top-of-list.

Sudoku?! Gtfo. Here: little . . . or burrowing?? Hah?

There are plenty that still challenge me to tell apart!

The sleuthing up facts and photos every day to make the posts gives me some good mental exercise.
