This was kinda one of the problems with outsourcing: if all your junior positions are sent abroad, were will tomorrow’s senior professionals come from.
Of course, outsourcing still created the senior professionals, just abroad (and then the countries were outsourcing was most common would import them as immigrants), whilst AI won’t even do that, plus AI is being applied to just about every single expert intelectual domain out there.
The problem of not teaching the less experienced and just doing the work yourself has always existed. Perhaps to a lesser degree in some industries that mandated it by necessity/demand. AI makes it more convenient/viable or reduces necessity/demand but the lesson is the same and will be learnt again, at least eventually.
A lot of things provide value while lying outside of the capitalist system. A lake, for example, before it is heavily developed, has natural beauty. Nobody pays each other to establish a stake or a right to the beauty of the lake; it just exists. Maybe there is a government program to manage it, but regardless, the lake lies outside of capital interests. Until suddenly these two systems encounter each other, and a price is put on the beauty of the lake. Suddenly things take on a monetary value. This can radically transform the way in which people interact with the lake.
But this effect exists everywhere. I don’t pay my neighbors to maintain their gardens, but I enjoy them. I don’t pay for the companionship of my family and friends. And my company doesn’t directly pay me to develop real expertise-- until it becomes a rarity, something to be bought and sold and valued monetarily.
That’s ridiculous, of course we will still have experts and im sure someone will figure it out. Anyways we gotta stay competitive so stop complaining and help me figure out what the computer wants us to do next
