Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said a nationwide warrant has been issued in the first criminal charges against an ICE agent for on-duty actions during the surge.

Fantastic. Now put every ice agent that’s fired into a motor vehicle in jail. Especially the ones we have bystander footage of, and even more especially the ones who murdered their target!

This will be an important test for local governments holding federal agents responsible of unlawful behavior. I expect the Trump crowd to all out fight this, both in court and media.

Maybe ICE shouldn’t have guns. Give them sticks until a couple of them get shot. We’ll revisit arming them at that time.

Moriarty said the charging decision in this case was more straightforward because the Minnesota State Patrol was able to conduct a complete investigation of the incident and submit a case file.

“This is the only case that we actually know what the federal officers say,” Moriarty said. “We have their statement. We have video. The difference is that it came to us just like any other case would have.”

That includes having access to the agent’s name, witness statements from the motorists and cellphone footage and surveillance camera footage that showed several elements of what took place.

You can be sure that this is the last time we have all that information. ICE/Homeland are being even more careful now to make sure local and state agencies are blocked out of everything to keep them from being able to make cases. In fact, I bet ICE/Homeland refuse to provide a location on this guy. He’ll probably live out the rest of his life as an underground here in red states that will refuse to arrest or extradite him.

I expect the DoJ will make some vague and some explicit threats, and it will be dropped for “technical reasons”.
