I use it in earnest because I hoard facts but my brain is so inconsistent in delivering those facts as useful knowledge when called upon. Partially age, partially hard earned humility.

I may know, somewhere down there, but often I in fact do not remember correctly.

Edit: heh, just realized most of the old heads said a version of the same thing. I wonder if usage just gets less ironic with age.
