I hate using the phone in the sun and cant see anything because the light reflects off the screen too much.
In addition, because normal tempered glass reflects too much, if youre in a meeting and the light from windows / projectors can reflect off the phone. So if you move your phone around it can shine on people’s faces.
Anyway, i tried the Hoda anti reflective screen, it didnt do much. Want to see what everyone uses to mitigate this problem. Amazon has a lot of anti reflective screens but the reviews are not great (3.5/5). Plus some are expensive ($45++).
Or just go back and use a matte TPU lol?
The S26 line have anti reflective screen protectors available. I’ve put one on my phone, it seems comparable to the phone without the protector, though (absolute anecdata) it feels like any anti-smudge stuff is worse.
You could see if one of those fit your phone screen reasonably closely?
Here’s a video showing a comparison.
Anti-glare is kind of a scam, especially when you’re talking about sunlight. You can either have material that diffuses the light to kit reflect as much, or shift it on a bounce so your eyes don’t notice it as much.
I think most people don’t realize this and will probably give most things a bad rating based on their unrealistic expectations. Depending on your scenario, you may have to just try a bunch of different things.
Edit: also, I think you’re asking about the NEW Samsung phone with a privacy filter. That’s the S25 or S26, I don’t know, but it’s not an anti-glare filter at all. It just makes viewing from an extreme side angle difficult.
Samsung S24 Ultra onwards have the anti-reflective “matte” coating (diffused vs shiny) while the S26 Ultra is the first with the dumb “privacy display” feature.
It’s neat tech, but it significantly reduces the resolution when enabled, it has worse viewing angles when disabled (since half the pixels are less visible when viewing side on) and the feature is done better with a cheap screen protector. Pretty cool that you can use it for notifications, but I think that’s the only part-of-screen tinkering you can do with it, it’s that or the whole screen, so you could just set the notifications to hide message contents?
yeh i’ll guess i’ll try some of them out. Anything above $50 is too much for me though. Also i am aware of the privacy stuff on the new S25.
It is not what i meant in the OP, the S24 Ultra was the 1st one to have that anti reflective coating on. It was difficult to get a screen for that one because Samsung did such a great job, i.e. any screen protectors will just reduce the factory coating.
I wish I knew that before putting a screen protector on mine.
Put it in your pocket lol
