That would be for North America,
but I disagree considering where the name America likely came from,
not Albericus Vespucci, but from a Mayan mountainous region named Amerrisque,
“land where the wind blows constantly” and perhaps combined with the Spanish word “rica/rich”,
because those mountains were rich with gold at that time.

And I think that name is more fitting than ‘Turtle Island’ to be honest.
North America has a lot of hurricanes and tornadoes.
      And it’s rich with resources.

South America needs a rename though.

It is perhaps descriptive, but America is a name that comes from colonizers. We should honor indigenous peoples by using their name for the continent.

Regarding south america, I wouldnt know what to call it.

America: Literally rains death on other countries.

Americans: How dare you say death to America! You’re the real problem with the world!

I was drawing pictures making fun of George Bush Sr. in 7th grade. I’ve felt bad about this place for uhhhh… a while.

My parents were antiwar and liberal af. My mom once told me as a kid that if the draft happened, they’d move me to Canada. So I was radicalized pretty early on about imperialism (in the most rudimentary sense—I was a kid after all).

The drawings weren’t great either lol. I still have them somewhere.

I definitely didn’t understand most of it then as a kid, but I feel like it opened a doorway that shaped who I am today. That was also in the 90s when US society wasn’t yet destitute for working class families.

Already do. I get reminded everyday that my country is super evil but there’s not much I can do about it aside from voting which from what I understand this sublemmy doesn’t believe will do anything. So if that’s the case, guess I’m just fucked anyway? No matter what I do, my country will bomb other countries to the ground and its my fault??

Do you actually care, that your labour and tax are used to commit the gravest horrors onto other people, or do you just pretend to care for virtue signaling? If it’s the former then there is much more you can do than vote every few years.

Yup. Keep going to work to fund atrocities domestically and overseas. When you’re not doing that, show up at a demonstration. But don’t ever demonstrate violently like the French or anything. That’s bad, mkay?

If every American did just a bit of that simultaneously, nobody would be worrying about either. They’d be worrying about their country and it’s consequences to the globe. Something Americans are incapable of. No mass unrest, no unrest to register. The job market is already upsidedown, again, under trump, again. What’s the worst in tipping the scale over and bouncing off of rock bottom? It’s what the world needs. It’s what you need. It’s what I need. China did it. The French still do it. Americans have lived catered to buy slaves and slave labor since this countries inception, ain’t nobody willing to get uncomfortable even in the face of oppressive regime. So, yes. Get into unsecured debt. Try out homelessness while you protest in the streets. Nobody in their right minds goes to work, protest, then work again. Fucking commit or be honest that your so called values are hollow virtue signaling. Come on in, the waters fine.
