They didn’t randomly decide they didn’t like gold, they do have a few reasons for it.

The protestant church as an institution isn’t exactly destitute either. It’s just not in gold.
Prosperity gospel preechers like him and that guy with 2 jets are sociopaths. They don’t believe any of it they just like they pay and perks.
Sounds to me like that would make them the only honest Christians
